FC Edmonton Hope to Rebound Quickly Against Islanders

FC Edmonton News Release
BAYAMON, PR. - Euphoria turned into heartbreak in an instant on Saturday night in Puerto Rico.
FC Edmonton's Kyle Porter looked to have secured a tie for his team against the Islanders after scoring in injury time but just one minute later, Jay Needham took advantage of a mistake and scored the winning goal as time ran out.
The good news is FC Edmonton has a chance to redeem itself and go home with a split from a two-game Puerto Rico road trip tonight (Kick Off at 5:30 p.m./www.fcedmonton.com).
Despite the loss, Edmonton remains in fourth place in the league standings but a win tonight would put the team three points ahead of the NSC Minnesota Stars in an extremely tight playoff race. The Stars travel to Edmonton on Sept. 3.
With just five games remaining in the regular season, points are at a premium. Four points separate the seventh place Montreal Impact from fourth Place Edmonton with Minnesota and Fort Lauderdale sandwiched in between.
After tonight, both the Stars and Strikers will have a game in hand, making tonight a near must-win.
