San Antonio Stars News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Silver Stars have waived Khara Smith, announced General Manager and Head Coach Dan Hughes today.

San Antonio selected Smith with the 30th overall pick in the third round of the 2006 WNBA Draft, but the Illinois native decided to sit out the 2006 season after battling nagging injuries throughout her senior season.

An AP All-American and former Conference USA Freshman of the Year, Smith averaged 17.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game throughout her collegiate career. As a senior, Smith helped guide DePaul to an NCAA Regional Semi-Final appearance.

Smith appeared in one pre-season game for the Silver Stars, scoring two points and grabbing three rebounds in nearly 12 minutes against Minnesota.

The Silver Stars open the 2007 season at Phoenix on May 19 before returning home to the AT&T Center for a Wednesday, May 23 tilt against Connecticut. Full season and partial ticket plans are available starting as low as $51. For more information on tickets, call 210.444.5090.
