SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Silver Stars signed former DePaul forward Khara Smith, announced General Manager and Head Coach Dan Hughes.

San Antonio selected Smith with the 30th overall pick in the third round of the 2006 WNBA Draft, but the Illinois native decided to sit out the 2006 season after battling nagging injuries throughout her senior season.

"We are so glad it worked out for Khara to join our 2007 training camp," said Hughes. "She brings a real physical low post presence with very good low post skills."

An AP All-American and former Conference USA Freshman of the Year, Smith averaged 17.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game throughout her collegiate career. As a senior, Smith helped guide DePaul to an NCAA Regional Semi-Final appearance.

The Silver Stars open their 2007 season at Phoenix on May 19 before hosting Connecticut May 23 at the AT&T Center. Full season and partial ticket plans are available starting as low as $49. For more information on tickets, call 210.444.5090.
