July 10, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox keep their perfect record against the St. George Roadrunners after they swept them for the third straight series tonight, beating the Roadrunners 11 - 9.

The Silver Sox started the scoring early, knocking in three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3 - 1 lead. C Masa Chikazawa hit an RBI single to score 3B Jose Rodriguez. Then two batters later, SS Sam Walker hit an 2 RBI single, scoring Chikazawa and LF Kane Simmons.

The Roadrunners would tie the ball game up in the third with two runs of their own with an RBI walk and a score on a fielder's choice.

However, the Silver Sox would add one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth, before they put the lean on the Roadrunners scoring five runs in the seventh inning.

Simmons and 1B Ryan Brown scored off of an error by former Silver Sox and now currert Roadrunner 1B Cody Nowlin, which allowed 2B Mike Done to reach first base. Walker then hit another RBI single, scoring Chikazawa. DH Juan Senreiso, who homered early in the game, hit and RBI single scoring Done. A wild pitch would then score RF Ryan Kowalski. The Silver Sox now were in the lead 11 - 3.

Silver Sox starter, Dusty Bergman, pitched an amazing game for the Silver Sox and finally was able to record his first win of the season even though he had the eighth best ERA in the Golden Baseball League. Bergman pitched seven innings allowing three runs off of eight hits.

The Roadrunners however wouldn't quit and kept up playing hard and almost made a comeback off of the Silver Sox bullpen. The Roadrunners scored one run in the eight, making the score 11 - 4, before they would really threaten the Silver Sox. In the top of the ninth, the Roadrunners would score four runs on Silver Sox reliever Mike Peck, however only one of those runs would be earned. Josh Evans was then sent in to relieve Peck, and Evans would eventually close out the game and keep the Silver Sox perfect record against the Roadrunners intact.

The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night to take on the Los Angeles Armada for the first time this season in Reno. Famous Chicken Coming to Reno

The Reno Silver Sox are pleased to announce that, as per the voting of the fans, the Famous Chicken will be making an appearance at the Silver Sox game on July 11, 2007.

The Famous Chicken has been a staple in the Baseball Community since it made its first appearance at a San Diego Padres game in June 1979. Entering the field in a 10 foot Styrofoam egg atop of a armored truck, and with a highway patrol police escort, the Chicken hatched in front of 47,000 people. To this day, 'The Grand Hatching' has been called by baseball historians as one of the "greatest public relations spectacles in the game's history."

The Chicken has visited eight countries, four continents, and all fifty states. The Chicken's career staple has been his live shows. He has performed at more than 8,500 games and has more than 17,000 total appearances when parades, trade shows, banquets, conventions, TV, and radio dates are factored in. Bringing the grand total of people he has performed in front of over 60 million.

The Famous Chicken will be brought to Reno courtesy of Saint Mary's. That same night will also be Saint Mary's Employee Night, where sunscreen will be passed out to fans entering the gates.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. against the Long Beach Armada. During the game, the Famous Chicken will be performing throughout the game providing what should be one of the greatest and funniest Silver Sox games for years to come.
