A stellar starting pitching performance and 2 big innings allowed the Flyers to cruise to a 10-2 victory and sweep the Yuma Scorpions...
Orange County Flyers starting pitcher, Ben Fox (1-0), who also doubles as the pitching coach, pitched a complete game for the victory and the Flyer offense had a 4-run 4th inning and a 5-run 6th inning to dominate the Yuma Scorpions 10-2 Tuesday night at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.
The Flyers broke through with 5 hits and 4 runs in the 4th inning as Flyer DH Scott Goodman lead-off the inning with a double and was followed by 1B Peanut Williams' 1st pitch RBI double off the center field wall to get the Flyers on the board.
After Flyer SS Bret Levier hit an RBI single and C Buddy Morales brought him in with a hard-hit double, the score was 4-0 Flyers.
The Flyers unloaded on the Scorpions in the 6th as they scored 5 runs on 5 hits, highlighted by another RBI single by Morales and P. Williams 2-run RBI double to left that really opened up the game to make it 9-0 Flyers.
Fox dominated the game going the complete game, giving up 4 hits with no earned runs and 7 strikeouts to be named player of the game.
P. Williams went 4-5 with 4 RBIs and a run scored and Morales went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored to lead the Flyer offense.
The Flyers improved to 18-15 on the season as they swept the 2-game series with the Scorpions and win their 3rd in a row. They continue play on Thursday in Yuma.
