Reno Silver Sox News Release

In a 9-5 victory the Silver Sox (16-23) took game two in the three game series against the Yuma Scorpions (23-17) last night at Peccole.

Starting pitcher Jesse Hall (4-3) threw five great innings, allowing only two runs off four hits, walking four, and striking out five in an impressive night for the lefty. Hall now leads the team with wins on the season.

In to relieve Hall was righty Andrew Alvarado who made his Peccole debut by pitching himself out of two jams in the sixth and seventh innings. Alvarado loaded the bases up twice before finishing out the side and he allowed no runs off two hits in his two innings. Finishing out the game for the Silver Sox was Eduardo Del La Cruz. Cruz allowed three runs off two hits, walking two and striking out two.

Once again the Silver Sox offense took an early lead when DH Juan Senreiso knocked in LF Ryan Crespi in the first for an early lead. Senreiso was one for five on the night with one RBI. 3B Carlos Madrid started the second inning by drilling a homer to give the Silver Sox a 2-0 lead after two. Madrid went two for four with one RBI and two runs.

2B Doug Sanders put up two more runs in the fourth with a two run RBI single to center field that brought in C D.J Dixon and 1B Ryan Brown that put the Sox up 4-1. Sanders was one for four with two RBIs. CF Gary Harris hit a homerun in the fifth as he went one for five against the Scorpions with one run and one RBI, to bring the score to 5-2.

The Silver Sox pulled ahead though in the seventh when Crespi hit a two run bomb to bring the score to 7-2. Crespi had a good night as he went two for four with two RBIs and two runs. Adding another homerun to the board for the Silver Sox was Ross McCoy who was one for three with one RBI and a run.

SS Andre Alvarado ended the night with a single that knocked in Madrid. Alvarado was three for four on the night with one RBI and a run. The Scorpions tried to make a comeback in the ninth as they hit two homeruns off De La Cruz, but the fast throwing righty struck out the final batter swinging to end the night.
