Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Silver Sox now have a four game winning streak going into the final game of the first half, after they defeated the first half champions Chico Outlaws tonight, July 17, 11 - 4.
The Silver Sox weren't just going to fade away even though the first half is only one game away from being over. Instead, the Silver Sox decided to show the Outlaws what they could be facing in the Championship series if the Silver Sox win the second half.
Three Silver Sox hit homeruns tonight and all of them were for multiple runs. 1B Ryan Brown hit the first homerun for the Silver Sox in the third inning to tie the ball game at 4 - 4. Brown would finish the night going 3-5, with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
The Silver Sox would then add another four runs in the fifth inning. 3B Jose Rodriguez homered with CF Victor Hall on third. Rodriguez went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Then, after a Brown single, LF Kane Simmons hit his GBL league leading 9th homerun.
The Outlaws would add another 2 runs in the sixth, but it wouldn't be enough as the Silver Sox added another 3 runs in seventh. Rodriguez singled in DH Juan Senreiso. Then, with Rodriguez and Brown on base, SS Sam Walker hit a 2 RBI double making the lead 11 - 4.
Silver Sox starter Matt Parris recorded his fourth win tonight pitching seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, and three strikeouts. Shawn Balteff and Josh Evans came in for relief and pitched two innings of no-hit baseball against the Outlaws.
The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night, July 18, to play the second game of this four game series against the Outlaws. Silver Sox Announce Family Day
