Silver Sox Spring Training Begins Monday
The 2008 Reno Silver Sox will officially begin spring training on Monday, May 12 at Peccole Park from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This is the first year with former Major League All-Star Jeffrey Leonard at the helm. Joining Leonard in the dugout will be former Minor League Player of the Year and current coach of the Will C. Wood varsity baseball team, Reggie Leslie as pitching coach and former Frontier League All-Star and current third base and infield coach for Maya West of Puerto Rico, Dalphie Correa as hitting coach. Also, joining Leonard as a player/coach will be Reno Silver Sox closer and the current Golden Baseball League record holder for saves in a season, Scott Schneider.
The Silver Sox have invited 35 players for this year?s spring training and will have to cut that number down to 22 before the season begins on May 23 when the Silver Sox host the visiting Orange County Flyers with a scheduled first pitch at 7:00 p.m.
The Silver Sox will also be traveling to Chico, CA to play two exhibition games against the rival Chico Outlaws on May 16 and 17.
