Silver Sox Hand Out First Loss

The Reno Silver Sox handed the Yuma Scorpions their first loss of the second half last night, as they beat the Scorpions 8 - 6.

2B Maurice Cole, leading off for the Silver Sox in the first inning, blasted a solo homerun to set the tone for the Silver Sox and gave the Silver Sox the early lead.

In the fifth inning, LF Kane Simmons hit his GBL leading 11th homerun which was also in front of his father who came out to see his son play professional baseball.

Silver Sox starter, Dusty Bergman, gave the Silver Sox a solid effort tonight, pitching seven innings, his last inning being his worst. In the seventh inning, Bergman gave up two runs on two wild pitches, which allowed the Scorpions to tie up the ball game at 6 - 6.

However, the Silver Sox would not be denied the win as they scored two more runs; one run in the seventh and another in the eighth.

The Scorpions would threaten the lead, but wouldn't touch it, giving the Silver Sox the win.

The Silver Sox host the Orange County Flyers tonight at Peccole Park, the first meeting between the two teams this season, at 7:00 p.m. To purchase your tickets for this game, or any other Silver Sox game visit the Silver Sox ticket booth before the game. Friday Night is...T-shirt Night!

Family Day

Every Sunday for the rest of the 2007 season will be Family Day at Peccole Park. Every family will be admitted to Sunday's game for $14...yup, just $14 no matter the size of the family.

In addition, parents and children will be to play catch before the game on the field and all children will be allowed to run the bases after the game.

The dates of Family Day are July 29, August 5, and August 19.

This offer will be valid at the Silver Sox ticket booth at Peccole Park on the day of the game only.
