Silver Sox can't keep pace in high scoring affair

August 4, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox got caught in a high scoring game with the first place Los Angeles Armada, but couldn't keep pace losing tonight, August 3, 18 - 15.

The Silver Sox and the Armada matched each other in both the first and second innings, each scoring three runs in the first and one in the second.

However, the Armada would pull away when Armada C Cole Cicatelli hit a grand slam giving the Armada a four run lead in the third inning. That would be the end for Silver Sox starter Matt Parris who finished with eight runs, five earned, and seven walks over two innings.

After adding two more runs in the fourth, the Silver Sox decided to add four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.

The Silver Sox had a chance to come back and try and take the lead from the Armada going into the seventh when the Armada lead was down to one, 11 - 10, however the Armada quickly shut that door scoring three runs in the top of the seventh.

The Silver Sox tried to make a seven run comeback in the ninth but were denied after scoring four runs.

The Silver Sox were lead on offense by DH Juan Senreiso. Senreiso kept his hot bat going as he went 5-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night, August 4, to take on the Armada in game two of this four game series. Also, tomorrow night is Election Night and Bill Pearce Logo Ball Night! First, the first 500 fans that enter through Peccole Park's gates will receive a free logo ball courtesy of Bill Pearce. Then, everyone who enters the gates will receive a piece of straw as a memento of tonight's events as well as a slip of paper to mark which candidate that are voting for.
