Reno Silver Sox News Release
In their first home win of the season the Silver Sox bombed three homeruns to bring the Silver Sox record to 2-8 on the season with an 11-8 win over the Long Beach Armada to split the two game series. Winning pitcher Steven Russell (1-1) pitched six innings only allowing four hits and one run, and RF Juan Senreiso slammed in two homeruns in his five at bats which drove in five Silver Sox runs.
Russell and Senreiso weren?t the only heroes tonight as many of the Silver Sox players contributed to the scoring and pitching that led to the win. CF Gary Harris led the game off with a solo shot to left field which gave the Sox a quick lead. The Silver Sox continued to add points to the board throughout the game including a triple two RBI hit by Andre Alvarado. Russell managed to keep the Armada scoreless until the fifth inning but by that time the Sox held a 7-1 lead.
Relieving Russell in the seventh was the right-handed side arm throwing Billy Shea who shut the Armada down by striking out all three batters. The last couple innings became eventful as Armada DH Tony Torcato hit Silver Sox C D.J. Dixon in the head which got him quickly ejected from the game. RP Dan Hall and RP Paul Wilson ended the game giving up a combined seven hits and seven runs as the Silver Sox triumphed for their second win of the season.
Tomorrow the Silver Sox take on the Orange County Flyers at 7 P.M. at Peccole Park in Reno. Also remember Saturday June 7 is St Mary?s T-Shirt night and the game will be concluded with a fireworks display.
