Silver Knights players rewarded after huge weekend in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, New York - After a big 2-0 weekend taking down the St Louis Ambush and the Baltimore Blast, the Silver Knights were rewarded with 3 players named to the MASL Team of the Week. Doug Miller, Andrew Coughlin, and Darren Toby were all named to the team of the week for the first time on the season.

Doug Miller had a huge first weekend in a Silver Knight jersey with a shootout goal, a game tying assist, and a game winning goal in a 2-0 weekend. Miller was excited and thankful to get the opportunity to play again and is excited to provide an extra spark for his long-time friend Tommy Tanner.

Andrew Coughlin also made his presence felt making his MASL debut after signing with the Silver Knights just Wednesday morning. Coughlin, the local Baldwinsville native made 25 saves and only allowed 4 goals against offensive power houses in the St Louis Ambush and the Baltimore Blast. Andrew's weekend was highlight by huge saves to keep the Knights in each game including allowing 0 goals in the shootout against the St Louis Ambush on Friday evening.

Darren Toby also was named to Team of the Week for the first time in the 2015-2016 season. Leading the defense that allowed just 4 goals, Toby also contributed a goal and 3 blocks on the weekend. Toby was also monumental in the weekend making several key stops and slowing down two high powered offenses over the weekend.

Miller, Coughlin, and Toby all join Slavisa Ubiparipovic, Antonio Manfut, JJ Gibson, and Bo Jelovac as past honorees on the MASL Team of the Week this season. JJ Gibson was former Player of the Week honors in week 10.

GK - Andrew Coughlin, Syracuse Silver Knights: Recorded 25 saves, allowed only 4 goals against and earned two wins in his first two professional starts in the MASL versus the St. Louis Ambush and Baltimore Blast at home.

D - Victor Quiroz, San Diego Sockers: Scored the game winning goal in overtime and added 2 assists to help the Sockers defeat Soles de Sonora 10-9 and handing them their first home loss of the season.

D - Darren Toby, Syracuse Silver Knights: Recorded 1 goal and added 3 blocks total in two wins this weekend and helped lead the Silver Knights defense allowing only 4 goals.

M/F - Cristian Gutierrez, Atletico Baja: Recorded a total of 6 goals and added 3 assists this weekend in two home wins versus Rancho Seco Saltillo.

M/F - Doug Miller, Syracuse Silver Knights: Helped his new team the Silver Knights to two victories in his first two games by scoring on the shootout in the 3-2 shootout win over the St. Louis Ambush and then scored 1 goal and added 1 assist in the 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Blast.

F - Mauricio Salles, Ontario Fury: Scored a total of 6 goals and added 3 assists in two road wins this weekend against the Turlock Express and Sacramento Surge, helping extend the Fury road win streak to 4 games.
