Spokane Shock News Release

The Spokane Shock announced today that they have been assigned OL/DL Kurt Sigler by the arenafootball2 League Office. To make room on the roster, the Shock placed rookie OL/DL Chuck Jones on recallable reassignment.

Sigler, 6-5 285, attended Eastern Washington University where he capped off a decorated career as an Eagle with two All-Star game appearances after his senior season. As a senior, Sigler earned 2nd team All-Big Sky, and was named to the Academic All-Big Sky team.

Sigler, who was granted two medical red-shirts during his six year career at Eastern, started the final 22 consecutive games of his career. After graduating from Eastern, Sigler signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills before being released shortly before the start of the 2004 regular season. That same season, Sigler signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. In the 2005 season, Sigler signed with the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League.

"We've known about Sigler for some time now; he will truly be an asset to our line," Head Coach Chris Siegfried said. "He's stayed in shape and he could even get some playing time this weekend in Bakersfield."

Sigler attended the Shock's inaugural game against the Stockton Lightning and became an instant fan.

"I was really impressed with the turnout. Hopefully, the high turnout will continue. It's really a high level of football," Sigler said.

The Spokane Shock will travel for their first road game as they visit the Bakersfield Blitz on Sunday April 9th with a 3 PM kick-off. The game will be broadcast live on the Buzzard 105.7 with Larry Weir and Paul Sorenson calling the action. Season tickets and group tickets are still on sale by phone at 509 242 SHOCK (7462).
