Bakersfield Blitz News Release
Bakersfield - The Bakersfield Blitz home opener will be Sunday, April 9 against the Spokane Shock. Kick off is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Rabobank Arena.
"We had a great game last week against Everett," Coach Compton said. "I am sure Spokane will look at the film of this game to find a way to stop our key players."
The Blitz had a great game against the Everett Hawks last Thursday when they started the season with a 60-54 victory in Washington. Rennard Reynolds was named "Offensive Player of the Game," totaling 8 catches, 120 yards, 4 receiving and 1 rushing for a total of 5 touchdowns. New quarterback, Mike Wall had a great game as well with 20 of 31 passes, 260 yards, and 6 touchdown passes.
The Spokane Shock also had a win last Thursday when they finished their first game with a 41-40 victory over the Stockton Lightning. It was a close game as both teams rallied touchdowns throughout the night.
Sunday's game will be exciting with the Blitz and the Shock both at 1-0. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Blitz schedule magnet and thunder stick.
