Sidorov Hat-Trick Powers Blades Past Pats

Saskatoon, Sask. - Saskatoon Blades Belarusian import forward Egor Sidorov netted a hat-trick on Saturday night in a 6-2 win over the Regina Pats.

Also scoring for the Blades were Tristen Robins, captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere and Kyle Crnkovic, who put the game to bed with an empty-netter in the final minute of play.

Connor Bedard scored his 29th goal of the season in a losing cause, using his quick release to blast one past Nolan Maier in the second period. He also added an assist on Tanner Howe's 17th goal of the season.

Bedard now has 54 points this season in 36 games. His 1.50 points per game rank 4th in the WHL, behind only Logan Stankoven (1.73), Jake Neighbours (1.63) and Kyle Crnkovic (1.57).

The Pats allowed two power play goals in this one, however one came with 15 seconds to go in the game, when the result was already in the bag.

The shots on goal were even 30-30.

THE GOALS

1st Period

SAS 1-0 at 15:22 - Egor Sidorov (12), unassisted // Sidorov stole the puck behind the Pats net and was able to work his way to the bottom of the circle, where he fired it under the arm of Welke on the short side to open the scoring.

REG 1-1 at 15:37 - Connor Bedard (29), unassisted // Blink and you likely missed it. Bedard answered for the Pats just 15 seconds later on an individual effort, after he entered the attacking zone up the middle and fired a laser off the post and in. The referee initially waved it off, but after video review, it was corrected.

2nd Period

SAS 2-1 at 16:12 - Tristen Robins (21), assisted by Brandon Lisowsky // Robins came down the right wing on a 2-on-1 rush with Lisowsky and decided the take the shot, beating Welke on the blocker side.

SAS 3-1 at 19:59 - Aidan De La Gorgendiere (5), assisted by Kyle Crnkovic and Tristen Robins (PPG) // The Blades captain let a wrist shot go from the top of the circle no the power play that went off Welke and squeaked in a split second before the buzzer went to end the period.

3rd Period

REG 2-3 at 0:22 - Tanner Howe (17), assisted by Connor Bedard (25) // Bedard made a backhand pass from the left side towards the middle for Howe, who quickly cradled it to his backhand it roofed it past Maier to get the Pats back into the game early in the third.

SAS 4-2 at 1:58 - Egor Sidorov (13), assisted by Trevor Wong and Brandon Lisowsky // Wong fed a pass from down low to Sidorov at the right circle and he fired a hot shot to the top corner.

SAS 5-2 at 19:03 - Kyle Crnkovic (30), unassisted (ENG) // Crnkovic picked the pocket of Svozil in the Pats zone and had an empty net to bury the puck in.

SAS 6-2 at 19:45 - Egor Sidorov (14), assisted by Tyler Parr and Kyren Gronick (PPG) // The Blades got a power play in the final seconds of the game and Sidorov's wrist shot from the blue line went past the blocker of Pyne, giving the Belarusian the hat-trick.

GOALTENDING BATTLE

Regina: Spencer Welke allowed three goals on 16 shots in the first two periods and then was pulled. Kelton Pyne stopped 11 of 13 shots in relief in the third period.

Saskatoon: Nolan Maier stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced.
