Tacoma, WA - Matt Torra threw 7.2 innings of one run baseball as the Sidewinders beat the Tacoma Rainiers X-X on Monday afternoon at Cheney Stadium to split their four game series.

Torra allowed just five hits and walked two. The only run he allowed was unearned as Oswaldo Navarro reached on a bunt single, moved to second on an error, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Sidewinders offense provided Torra an early cushion with a four run top of the second. Phil Avlas doubled to left with the bases loaded to plate a pair and Trent Oeltjen banged a two run single off the wall in right.

After the unearned run in the third, Torra did not allow another runner to reach second until the eighth inning. Luis Valbuena opened the frame with a single and with one out, Prentice Redman and Tug Hulett singled to load the bases. Torra struck out Wladimir Balentien before being lifted in favor of Reid Mahon who got Victor Diaz to fly to center to end the threat.

Mahon earned his third Triple-A save by retiring all four hitters he faced. He is now a perfect 21 for 21 in save opportunities this season (18 for 18 with Double-A Mobile).

Jeff Salazar and Jamie D'Antona each had a solo home run in the seventh inning.

The Sidewinders return home on Tuesday night to open a four game series with the Iowa Cubs. First pitch is at 7:00. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50.
