
Sidewinders Snap Eight-Game Losing Streak

Tucson scored an unearned run and made it hold up Saturday night in a 1-0 win over the Portland Beavers at PGE Park. The Sidewinders win snapped an eight-game losing streak. Tucson improved to 4-11 against Portland and earned its first win in seven trys at PGE Park.
Phil Stockman combined with two relievers on the four-hit shutout. Stockman earned his first Triple-A win in his first start, throwing six innings. Erik Sabel contributed two scoreless in relief and Jeremey Ward earned the save throwing a perfect ninth.
Tucson got on the board in the fourth inning when Doug DeVore tripled with two outs. DeVore was able to continue towards the plate and score when second baseman Bernie Castro threw the ball past Alex Pelaez into the Beavers dugout.
DeVore kept the game scoreless in the bottom of the fifth when he threw Alex Fernandez out at the plate to end the inning on a single by Castro.
The Sidewinders improved to 25-35 with the win. The finale of the four-game series will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:05. Chris Capuano (2-0 3.25) will start for Tucson against the Beavers Mike Bynum (3-1 3.15).
