
Sidekicks defeat St. Louis 6-2 in MISL Preseason Tournament

MILWAUKEE - The Sidekicks opened the game with four unanswered goals and went on to defeat the St. Louis Steamers 6-2 in the MISL Preseason Tournament held at the US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
Shawn David opened the scoring for the Sidekicks at 2:57 in the first half. Patrick Shamu added two goals (3:55 and 11:48) and Kenny Bundy added one at 18:40 to put the Sidekicks up by four. Mike Apple scored St. Louis' first goal with an assist from player/coach Daryl Doran at 23:15 to close the first half.
The second half was scoreless for 13:40 until Sidekicks forward Beau Brown scored from Laurenco Andrade. The Sidekicks took advantage of their only power play opportunity as Leo Pernia scored one minute into the man-advantage situation after Nando Hernandez was called for intentional handball at 22:00. Ryan Ferguson added a goal for the Steamers' at 22:45 to make the final score 6-2.
The game was played in two 24-minute halves with a running clock.
This was Dallas' first of two games they will play in the tournament. The Sidekicks face the Cleveland Force Saturday September 27 at 12:00 noon. They open the regular season Saturday October 4 at 7:05 p.m. by hosting the Monterrey Fury at Reunion Arena.
