Shrimp and BayBears Suspended Due to Rain

July 29, 2018 - Southern League (SL1)
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (12-24, 40-64) and the Mobile BayBears (14-21, 51-52) were suspended due to rain and severe weather in the bottom of the first inning with no score in the second game of the five-game series at Hank Aaron Stadium on Sunday night.

The clubs will resume the game and play it to its full nine innings on Monday night beginning at 6:05 p.m. eastern / 5:05 p.m. central, and then after that contest is complete there will be a 30-minute break before a seven-inning game will be played as the third game of the five-game series.

After the Jumbo Shrimp were set down in order in the top of the first by BayBears right-handed starter Jason Alexander, Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Max Duval struck out Jahmai Jones to start the bottom of the first. With Brennon Lund at the plate and the count 2-2, a lightning blast close to the stadium prompted the initial weather delay at 5:17 p.m. central, and then the game was officially suspended at 6:36 p.m. central.

Fans can listen to Monday's games on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 5:50 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.

The Jumbo Shrimp return home on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7:05 p.m. against the Mississippi Braves. Gates open at 6 p.m. for Publix Corks & Forks Wednesday, when fans can purchase a game ticket and the opportunity to sample food, beer, and wine from Publix in the Safe Harbor Seafood Palm Tree Pavilion for $15 at tinyurl.com/jaxshrimpportal (password "PUBLIX"). Reserved tickets may be upgraded at the Pavilion or box office. That night's featured wine will also be available in your neighborhood Publix. Anyone who donates a canned food item at the box office can save $1 off a gameday ticket (limit $1 off per ticket).
