Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

The Shreveport Mudbugs (19-17-5) gave up three unanswered goals in the second period and could never recover as they lost 4-1 to the Wichita Falls Warriors at Kay Yeager Coliseum Saturday night.

Both teams had a competitive opening period, but both goalies made big saves to keep it a scoreless game. The Warriors led in SOG, 16-9 after one.

Shreveport broke the ice at 5:33 of the 2nd period when Drake Morse got a puck in front and shoveled home his fourth tally of the season to give the Bugs a 1-0 edge. Logan Valkama won the draw and got the only assist. The Warriors then exploded with three unanswered goals at 8:44 from Cade Lemmer, 13:06 from Owen Baumgartner, and 19:57 from Lemmer again to give Wichita Falls a 3-1 lead after two. The home team led in SOG, 29-18 after two.

The Mudbugs just couldn't get much going in the third period as they were short-handed offensively for most of it. Dominick Rivelli would tap in the EN goal at 18:28 to close out a 4-1 for the Warriors over Shreveport.

Shreveport drops their fourth straight against Wichita Falls.

The Bugs and Warriors will conclude their three-game series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Kay Yeager Coliseum. ‚¬â€¹
