Shreve to Atlanta, Graham activated

PEARL, MS -- As previously announced, Mississippi Braves LHP Chasen Shreve was called up by the Atlanta Braves, becoming the 15th M-Brave in 10 years to receive a direct call up to Atlanta. In corresponding moves, RHP J.R. Graham was activated from the disabled list.

Shreve, 24, was leading the Southern League with a 12.59 strikeout per nine innings pitched ratio. He also ranked second in the league in lowest walks per nine innings (1.33) and fewest base runners per nine innings (8.61). The southpaw was 3-2 with seven saves and a 2.48 ERA in 36 outings for the M-Braves. He'd recorded 76 strikeouts in 54.1 innings pitched and held opponents to a .213 batting average.

Graham, 24, was placed on the disabled list with right triceps tendonitis June 30. He was 1-3 with a 5.18 ERA in 15 starts for the M-Braves. The California native entered the 2014 season ranked by Baseball America as the third-best prospect in the Braves system. Graham was also labeled "Best Control" in the Braves farm system. He went 1-3 with a 4.04 ERA in eight starts for the Double-A Braves last season before being sidelined by an injury for the remainder of the season. Graham was selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2011 draft out of Santa Clara University.

The Mississippi roster has 24 active players and 5 disabled.
