
Shorebirds Game Notes vs. Hagerstown

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds let an early lead slip away on Sunday evening as the Hagerstown Suns came back for a 5-4 victory. Delmarva had led 2-0 and 4-2 before losing the lead late. After a game-tying double in the 8th, Hagerstown scored the go-ahead run in the 9th inning on a wild pitch with two outs.
TODAY'S OPPONENT: Hector Silvestre will start the series finale for the Hagerstown Suns on Monday. Silvestre compiled a 5-7 with a 4.32 ERA in 17 starts for the Suns. The left-hander has squared off against Delmarva on three separate occassions. Silvestre has gone 1-2 against the Shorebirds, allowing 10 runs in 18 1/3 innings. In his most recent matchup with Delmarva, Silves- tre allowed a season-high 10 hits on June 29th.
19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.
ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost the rubber match in Oakland with a 10-2 final. The A's rocked Kevin Gausman, while Sonny Gray improved to 11-3 with the victory. With the defeat, the Orioles' hold on 1st place in the AL East slipped to three games. Baltimore is now 53-44 on the season, as they continue their West Coast swing in Los Angeles tonight.
THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

The Shorebirds outfielder has raised up his game since the All-Star Break. Lorenzo is hitting .292 in 29 games in the second half, compared to .243 in the first half. His on-base percentage is .359, up from .303 in the first half. Lorenzo already has 16 RBIs since the break, which is more than the 11 RBIs he collected in 62 games before the All-Star Game.
WHO'S HOT - AUSTIN WYNNS
The Shorebirds' catcher is currently on a 13-game hitting streak. On Sunday evening, Wynns punched a two-run single to give Del- marva a 4-2 lead. In the series with the Suns, Wynns is 3-for-7 with four RBIs.
WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO
The Shorebirds catcher is batting .388 (47- for-121) in 28 games in the second half. Sisco is now 1st in the SAL with a .342 batting average. Sisco just had his 18-game hitting streak snapped on Saturday.
