Shook Strikes out Eight, Shuckers Fall in Finale to Biscuits

BILOXI, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers (16-17) fell, 7-0, in the Mother's Day series finale to the Montgomery Biscuits (18-15) at Shuckers Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. The loss split the series between the two teams.
On the mound, Shuckers' starter TJ Shook struck out eight over four-plus innings, tying his season-high. The Biscuits struck first in the first inning on a stolen base and an error that allowed Carson Williams to score from third, making it 1-0. Shook struck out two in each of his first four innings, including a streak of four strikeouts in five batters between the first and second inning.
In the fifth, the Biscuits extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single from Jalen Battles and a double play that brought him in from third. In four-plus innings, Shook allowed two earned runs and three hits. Over two starts this series, Shook allowed two earned runs in 10 innings, a 1.80 ERA, with 16 strikeouts.
The Biscuits extended the lead in the seventh with an RBI single from Bob Seymour and scored three times in the eighth off a sacrifice fly from Battles and two RBI singles from Dru Baker and Carson Williams, making it 7-0.
Four Biscuits' pitchers limited Biloxi to one hit, a single from Justin Dirden in the sixth. Ian Seymour (2-2), who tossed five perfect innings, earned the win for Montgomery while Shook (2-4) took the loss.
After an off day on Monday, the Shuckers will travel to Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi for a six-game set with the Mississippi Braves.
