Trash Pandas Fall 3-1 to Braves

MADISON, ALABAMA - The Rocket City Trash Pandas were unable to gain a series win against Mississippi, ending the week with a 3-1 loss to the Braves Sunday afternoon.

Mississippi struck first as outfielder Geraldo Quintero hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning off Trash Pandas starting pitcher Jack Kochanowicz. Outfielder Justin Dean added to the lead two at-bats later when he grounded out to short.

The Trash Pandas broke up the shutout in the sixth inning after outfielder Gustavo Campero hit his second triple of the season. Outfielder Eric Wagaman drove him home with a groundout to cut the deficit in half.

Kochanowicz held the Braves scoreless after the second inning, finishing his day with a season-high seven innings and seven strikeouts.

Now facing the Trash Pandas bullpen, the Braves scored in the eighth thanks to a Drake Baldwin sacrifice fly.

Rocket City was unable to battle back as the six-game series ended in a 3-3 split.

The Trash Pandas will now travel to Tennessee to face the Smokies next week. First pitch against the Smokies on Tuesday is slated for 6:00 p.m. Josh Caray will have the call on WZZN 97.7-HD2.
