Shock Make Host of Midseason Roster Moves

SPOKANE, WA (May 28, 2014) - The Spokane Shock have announced numerous roster moves, highlighted by the acquisition of defensive back Fred Shaw (6-2, 220) and future considerations from the Philadelphia Soul in exchange for offensive lineman Duke Robinson (6-4, 345) and future considerations from the Shock.

Robinson is in his second year in the AFL after entering the league with the Utah Blaze in 2013 and has started nine games for the Shock this year along the offensive line.

Shaw, now in his fifth year in the AFL, spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career at Central Oklahoma, where he recorded 106 tackles, five interceptions, and eight passes defensed.

The veteran defensive back first broke into the league with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz in 2010. Shaw's best season came in 2012 with the San Antonio Talons, when he totaled 105 tackles, seven pass break ups, and eight interceptions. Over the course of his AFL career Shaw has amassed 306 tackles, 64 pass break ups, seven forced fumbles, 26 interceptions, and five touchdowns.

The Shock have also been assigned wide receiver Nick Truesdell (6-7, 240) and quarterback Jarrett Brown (6-2, 210).

Truesdell, a product of Cincinnati, recently attended the Green Bay Packers Rookie Camp. Prior to his time in Green Bay, Truesdell spent part of the 2014 season playing in the IFL for the Colorado Ice and the Bemidji Axemen. In seven games with the Axemen he recorded 28 receptions for 402 yards and nine touchdowns.

Brown rejoins the Shock after being placed on reassignment on May 20.

Offensive lineman Mark Jackson (6-6, 340) and wide receiver Andrew Joseph (5-9, 175) have been activated from injured reserve and inactive reserve, respectively.

Joseph has recorded five receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown in one game this season with the Shock.

Placed on inactive reserve are defensive back JT Fitzgerald (6-1, 205) and offensive lineman Sam Tupua (6-2, 350).

Fitzgerald has recorded 11.5 tackles and one fumble recovery for a touchdown with the Shock this year. Tupua has started all 10 games for Spokane, five at offensive line and five at fullback.

Finally, wide receiver Brandon Thompkins (5-9, 180) has been placed on recallable reassignment.
