Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock were defeated tonight by the Milwaukee Iron, 62-74. Milwaukee's QB Chris Greisen proved why he's one of the most accurate quarterbacks in AFL history, completing over 80% of his passes - without a single interception - and nine touchdowns. Milwaukee's starting receiving corps combined for 29 receptions, including 11 from WR Nate Forse who led the team.

At the end of the first quarter the Shock had a one point advantage, but the Iron's offense exploded in the second quarter with a 28 point outburst. Milwaukee scored three touchdowns with under a minute left in the quarter including a 42-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to end the period.

The Shock got things back on track at the start of the fourth quarter as QB Kyle Rowley and WR Markee White connected for an 8-yard touchdown completion. But Greisen fired right back with a touchdown of his own to AFL-veteran WR Damian Harrell on a 13-yard completion. On the ensuing kickoff, Spokane's Qourey Payne scored a touchdown off of a 58-yard return that brought some life into the Spokane crowd of over 10,000.

Milwaukee put an abrupt halt to Spokane's comeback efforts thanks to an interception by Iron DB Marcus Everett. Greisen marched his offense down the field and connected with WR Tiger Jones to put the game out of reach for Spokane.

"We just made a lot dumb mistakes," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "It's a game of possessions and our defense just couldn't stop them."

Rowley ended the night with seven touchdown passes and two interceptions. WR Huey Whittaker led the Shock's offense with 11 receptions including four touchdowns.

Spokane hits the road this week to take on the Utah Blaze on April 9th at 6 PM PST. Radio coverage of the game begins at 5:30 PM PST with Dennis Patchin and Keith Osso on 700 ESPN THE TICKET.
