
Shock Announce Rockstar Dance Team Tryouts

SPOKANE, Wash. (October 28, 2014) - The Spokane Shock Rockstar Dance Team and Spokane Elite Dance Studio have announced prep classes and tryout dates for the 2015 AFL season.
Prep classes will be offered weekly at Spokane Elite Dance Studio located at 10525 E Sprague Ave in Spokane Valley, WA. Classes will be led by returning and former Rockstar Dance Team members to prepare tryout participants for first round auditions. Each Thursday, a Hip Hop Abs class will be led by Gabby from 8:10-8:40 p.m. followed by a Pro-Dance prep class led by Alexis from 8:45-9:30pm. There will be a day of $25 registration fee for tryout participants, cash only. Participants will also be required to complete information and waiver forms and provide a 5" x 7" or larger head-shot, all photos are non-returnable. Registration and forms will be completed on-site the day of the first round of tryouts.
The first round of tryouts will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2014 at the Spokane Shock Training Facility located at 3212 N Eden Road, Suite B in Spokane Valley, WA. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. and on-field instruction will begin at 7:00 p.m. First round tryouts are led by Dance Team Directors Maggie Kazemba and Casandra Morgan. First round tryouts are a closed event and not open to public viewing. Participants should wear form-fitting, two-piece dance outfits and comfortable shoes. No jazz pants or baggy pants will be allowed, please wear dance briefs or boy shorts. It is suggested that participants bring make-up, hair products, a towel, bottle of water and a snack. After instruction and warm-ups, participants will learn across the floor combinations including basic kicks and turns integrated into a few short, repeating sideline dance routines. Participants will perform in small groups and first cuts will be established after the completion of the first round.
Interviews will be held on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Each rookie finalist (those who have not been on the team before) will schedule a private interview with a small panel of judges consisting of Shock Dance Team Instructors, Front Office Staff and special guests. Interviews will be recorded and portion may be played during the final round show between dance sets. Participants should dress business casual for their interview and look professional.
Call backs will take place on Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at Spokane Elite Dance Studio from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm and are mandatory for all tryout participants who are selected to advance beyond the first round. Dancers will learn additional choreography which they will be asked to perform at the finals. This round is not judged and no cuts will be made, however, dancers should still come tryout ready as photos and video will be taken throughout call-backs. This round is also closed to public viewing.
Dance Team finals will be held on Wednesday, December 10th, 2014. The location and time of the finals will be announced in coming weeks. This event is free and open to all ages of the public. Participants will each perform three times and will be graded by a panel of judges consisting of Shock staff and special community guests. Finalists will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
