Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thunder wide receiver Douglas McNeil III will go from one high-scoring system to another as he was signed to the Denver Broncos' practice squad on Tuesday.
"We're excited for Doug and this opportunity for him," said Head Coach Mike Hohensee. "Hopefully we're watching him on Sundays for a long time to come. The fact that we're having so many guys get picked up is a testament to the talent involved not only on this roster, but in the Arena Football League. If [McNeil] does decide to come back, he'll always have a home in Portland."
McNeil III finished the 2014 season with 858 yards on 66 receptions in just 11 games. He also had the franchise's longest touchdown reception, a 48-yarder, and was second on the team with 18 touchdown receptions.
"Portland gave me a shot to display my talent at the professional level," said McNeil. "This opportunity wouldn't be possible if they hadn't taken a chance on me. This goes to show the power of faith and perseverance."
