Shock Add Hedin to Roster
June 22, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that DL Eric Hedin has been added to the 2011 roster. In another roster move, OL Ben Ossai has been placed on team suspension.
Hedin, 6-7 245, finished up an outstanding collegiate career at Linfield College in 2010. In 34 games as a Wildcat, Hedin collected 137 tackles including 29.5 sacks. As a senior, Hedin led all divisions of the NCAA with 22 sacks over 11 games and was named the Conference Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American.
"Hedin fits the mold of the kind of defensive end we are looking for," Head Coach Rob Keefe said. "He is quick, incredibly athletic with tremendous strength and he has a high motor. In this league, those attributes are a recipe for success."
Although the lineup for this weekend's game has not been determined, Hedin will be eligible to play. Saturday night the Shock takes on the Voodoo in New Orleans with a 5 PM kickoff. Dennis Patchin and Keith Osso will provide live coverage starting at 4:30 PM on 700 ESPN. The game will also be carried live on KSKN starting at 5 PM.
The Shock will return to Spokane on July 9th when they host the Utah Blaze for the Joe Albi Summer Classic. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting TicketsWest.
