Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that DB Tremaine Tyler, 5'11" 205, has been assigned to their 2008 roster. To make room for Tyler, the Shock released WR/DB Kyle Whitehurst who originally signed with the team in December. The Shock also announced the signing of OL Marcel Burrough, 6"6" 335, to the 2008 roster.
Tyler was a teammate of LB Marcus Lawrence, who the Shock signed in early January, at South Carolina University where he finished his collegiate career in 2005. As a Gamecock, Tyler played in 38 games and collected 111 total tackles, three interceptions and nine pass break-ups.
"Tyler played against some top flight competition in the SEC and proved himself," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "At his pro-day workout, Tyler registered a 30-inch vertical leap; when you combine that kind of athleticism with a nose for a football you have yourself a pretty good football player."
Burrough was named to the first-ever U.S. Senior National football team that won the World Championship in 2007, after completing a career at San Jose State University. As a Spartan, Burrough played two full seasons, starting in 21 games at left guard. Burrough helped anchor an offensive line that allowed only 17 sacks his senior season.
"Offensive line is one of the most important positions in football. Any time you can add depth to your roster with a player who has the size and ability that Marcel has, you put yourself in a good position to win games."
The Shock's roster now stands at 30 players. A total of 35 players will be brought into training camp that will begin in March. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
