Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that QB Ryan Colburn and QB Adam Froman have been added to the 2012 roster.

Colburn, 6-3 230, spent the 2011 season with the UFL's Sacramento Mountain Lions. In three games with Sacramento, Colburn completed 64% of his passes (44/69) for 490 yards with three interceptions and five touchdowns. Colburn finished second in the league in passing efficiency (138.6), behind former AFL QB Chris Greisen (147.8).

"Ryan Colburn proved himself as a starter at the UFL level," Head Coach Andy Olson said. "You can't teach that kind of experience. Physically, he has the size to stand tall in the pocket and delivers an accurate ball. He might be a rookie to the Arena game but he has the tools and the experience in the outdoor game you need to be successful in this league."

Prior to his professional career, Colburn played 31 games at Fresno State where he completed over 62% of his passes (412/663) for 5,334 yards with 42 touchdowns. Colburn, who was named the starter as a junior, was named Academic All-WAC after his senior season. In 2009, Colburn finished third in the conference in passing efficiency (143.71, 20th in the NCAA) and directed the Bulldogs' offense that ranked 14th in the NCAA averaging 33.85 points/game.

Most recently Froman (6-4 220), spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL where he was a member of the practice squad. Prior to his experience in the CFL, Froman made his professional debut with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this season and was released at the end of training camp.

A JUCO All-American, Froman began his college career at Santa Rosa Junior College where he was named the Conference Player of the Year and threw for 40 touchdowns in 2009. The following season, Froman transferred to Louisville where he started seven games and completed 1,354 yards with six touchdowns. As a senior, Froman's success continued as the starter. He completed 132 of 218 attempts for 1,633 yards with 11 touchdowns.

"Adam Froman is an extremely intelligent player and at the QB position you need that," Head Coach Andy Olson explained. "In a short amount of time he has picked up experience in the CFL and the NFL. He's an excellent athlete with cannon for an arm that is extremely accurate. With his football smarts and physical gifts, I think it will be a smooth transition from the outdoor game to the indoor game."

Spokane will open the 2012 season on Monday, March 12th as they host the Iowa Barnstormers. For ticket information on the upcoming season, contact the Shock Ticket office at 509 242 7462 ext. 1.
