ORLANDO - A familiar face is returning to the Orlando Predators roster this coming season as former National Football League first-round draft pick Ahmad Carroll (5'10, 190, Arkansas) has agreed to rejoin the team for 2012.

Carroll, drafted No. 25 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, recorded 71 tackles (63 solo), seven pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and an interception at defensive back for the Preds during his lone AFL season in 2008.

"In my one and only year in the AFL we left some plays on the field when we lost in the first round of the playoffs," Carroll said. "I want to change that, and I know Coach (Bret) Munsey will bring in the right guys to help make that happen."

Carroll started 27 games for the Packers in his first two NFL seasons. He later played in a combined 22 games for the New York Jets from 2008-09 and appeared in a total of 56 NFL games in all while racking up 127 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions.

He recently recorded 9 tackles (8 solo) and five pass breakups in four games for the United Football League-champion Virginia Destroyers this past fall.

"I knew that if I was ever going to go back to playing arena football again it would be in Orlando," Carroll said. "They've got the best fans down there. We were selling out every game in 2008 and the fans loved us."

Carroll joins offensive lineman Brant Clouser (6'3, 305, Villanova) and defensive back Kyle Whitehurst (5'11, 190, Hampton) as new signees for 2012.

Clouser was voted to the 2010 All-Colonial Athletic Association Football First Team as a senior after starting in every game at offensive guard during his four-year college career at Villanova. He was signed as a free agent by the NFL's New York Giants before being waived on Sept. 2.

Whitehurst played alongside Carroll this past season in Virginia, recording 9.5 tackles (9 solo) and one interception in four games. He also played for the UFL's New York Sentinels and Hartford Colonials. His previous playing experience came with the Omaha Beef of the National Indoor Football League in 2007 and 2008, where in 27 games he tallied 93 tackles (3 for loss), five interceptions and five pass breakups.
