FRISCO, TEXAS - The Texas Rangers have announced that outfielder Shin-Soo Choo will begin his second Major League rehabilitation assignment of the season and join the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Rangers, for tonight's game against the Springfield Cardinals at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Choo, 33, is recovering from a left hamstring injury suffered May 20 in Houston. The injury occurred in his first game back from a strained right calf suffered earlier in the season.

The 12-year Major League veteran is in his third season with Texas after being signed as a free agent on December 27, 2013. Choo is a lifetime .281 hitter with 139 home runs and 550 RBI in 1,131 Major League contests. Last year on July 21, he became the ninth player in Rangers history and the first Asian-born player in Major League Baseball to hit for the cycle.

Choo is in the lineup for the RoughRiders tonight, as they host the Springfield Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. as part of a six-game homestand. Friday's game features live performances by the X-Pogo Stunt Team throughout the game and post-game fireworks afterward.

The homestand continues through Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark and includes Superhero Night on Saturday, June 4th, featuring the Jose Canseco Home Run Challenge after the game. Tickets for that game and the other games on the homestand are available now online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at info@ridersbaseball.com, over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box office. The RoughRiders host 70 games through Labor Day, September 5.
