FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, snapped their season-long eight-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Springfield Cardinals in front of 7,442 fans Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The Riders (31-21) surrendered two leads in the game but persevered to capture their first victory since May 23. With the game tied 5-5, the Riders took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh. Lewis Brinson singled, stole second base, and scored on Ronald Guzman's one-out double against Springfield (29-25) reliever Heath Wyatt (0-1) to put Frisco ahead 6-5.

Guzman finished the game a triple away from the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run to put the Riders ahead 2-1 in the third inning. He now has a total of eight home runs this season, all solo shots, and he leads the team with 19 multi-hit games.

Riders starter Sam Wolff's departed after 4 2/3 innings, despite only allowing one run on two hits, but the bullpen carried the team through the remainder of the game. Jose Valdespina (2-1) picked up the win in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings while allowing one run on three hits. Adam Parks retired the side in order in the ninth inning with two strikeouts to preserve the win and earn his fourth save of the season.

Shin-Soo Choo went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, playing all nine innings as the designated hitter in his first game on a Major League rehabilitation with the RoughRiders.

The two squads continue the three-game series Saturday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Southpaw Yohander Mendez (1-0, 2.70 ERA) is scheduled to throw against righty Corey Baker (2-3, 4.37 ERA).
