Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER - Boy, are the Worcester Sharks glad they made the trip north to Manchester. The Sharks won their third straight game and gathered six points this weekend after a 5-1 win in Manchester on Sunday afternoon. While Mother Nature was dumping heavy snow outside, the Sharks scored a flurry of goals inside against the Monarchs.
The Sharks received two first period goals from rookie T.J. Fox and never looked back. Riley Armstrong, Tom Walsh, and Lukas Kaspar added goals in the second period for the Sharks who approved to 11-10-1-2.
The Sharks shutdown the leagues best power play unit as they denied all four Monarch power play chances. Taylor Dakers recorded his 2nd professional win and came within 3:24 of the Sharks first shutout in franchise history, as the Monarchs scored a shorthanded goal with minutes remaining.
Sharks defenseman Marc Busenburg recorded two assists and was +4 as was his d-man pairing Dan Spang. T.J. Fox had a season high three points (2-1-3). Defenseman Tom Walsh scored his first goal of the season, a power play goal in the second period. Nate Raduns added two assists for Worcester.
The Sharks return to the DCU Center on Saturday, December 29th against the Monarchs, with the first 3,000 fans through the gates picking up a hand signed Mike Iggulden collector's card. The evening will also feature postgame fireworks as the Sharks celebrate the upcoming New Year.
