Chicago Wolves News Release

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned reigning American Hockey League MVP DARREN HAYDAR to the Chicago Wolves.

HAYDAR has tallied seven assists and eight points - which includes his first National Hockey League goal against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 13 - in an NHL career-high 16 games with the Thrashers this season. Prior to this year, the 28-year-old forward had been held scoreless in six games during his only other NHL action, which includes four outings with the Thrashers last season and two tilts with the Nashville Predators in 2002-03.

Prior to being recalled by Atlanta on Oct. 11, HAYDAR was named the fifth team captain in Wolves history and was held scoreless in the season opener against the Houston Aeros on Oct. 6.

The Milton, Ontario native received the AHL's highest individual honor last season after leading the league with a career-high 81 assists and 122 points and sharing third with a career-best 41 goals in 73 regular-season outings with Chicago.

A member of the 2006-07 AHL First All-Star Team, HAYDAR registered a point in 39 straight games from Oct. 7, 2006 to Jan. 6, 2007, which is tied for the fourth-longest streak of its kind in professional hockey history. He accrued a total of 146 points last season (122 regular-season, 24 postseason), four shy of the highest combined point total in the AHL's 72-year history.

HAYDAR and the Wolves (19-7-1-0) host the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena on Wed., Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. For ticket information, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or log on to chicagowolves.com.
