Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
JUPITER, FL - Tayler Scott shutdown the Hammerheads for six innings and the Sharks could not recover from an early 3-0 deficit as they fell to Daytona 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Cubs jumped on Jupiter starter Matt Milroy in the second inning. After Milroy struck out the first batter of the inning, he issued a walk and allowed a single to put runners on the corners.
Billy McKinney would then ground into a fielder's choice to put Daytona on the board.
Chadd Krist would then wrap the next pitch around the left field foul pole for a two-run homer to give the Cubs a 3-0 lead.
That would be plenty of run support for Scott who scattered five hits in six shutout innings. He earned his fifth win of the year.
The Cubs would grab another run off Milroy in the sixth when Rock Shoulders hit a leadoff double and later scored on a sac fly by McKinney.
Once Scott left the game the Sharks would get a run back in the bottom of the seventh when Noah Perio, Sharif Othman and Ryan Goetz hit three straight singles.
The Cubs would strike back in the top of the eighth when McKinney hit a two-run homer to right off James Buckelew to make it 6-1.
Jupiter would get one back on a RBI single by Blake Barber in the bottom of the frame but that would cap the scoring in the game.
The Hammerheads and Cubs will finish their four game series on Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
