
Sharks Lose a Tough One At Home Against Edenton

The Wilmington Sharks loss 10-0 at home on Thursday night to the Edenton Steamers.
The pitching was great on both sides through the first three innings of play. As both starters Noah Smallwood for the Sharks and Jesse Morris for the Steamers were locating their pitches and had a combined five strikeouts through three.
Josh Hampton got the ball rolling for the Steamers as he hit a towering two home run over the center fieldfence to give the Steamers a 2-0 lead. Nick Miller then picked up an RBI single for the Steamers to give thema 4-0 lead after Trent Miller scored right before that.
The Steamers then picked up three runs in the eighth and three runs in the ninth to put the score at 10-0.
Matt Pollock picked up a hit for the Sharks which is his fifth hit of the year and now has had a hit in his first three games with the Sharks.
The Sharks will go on the road to face Edenton on Friday night.
The Wilmington Sharks are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1000 alumni drafted and 62 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their major league debut so far.
