Sharks Have Hot Bats in 10-2 Win over RedWolves

Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (2-3, 16-16) won 10-2 as they had the hot bats on Tuesday night as they picked up 10 runs on 17 hits over the Florence RedWolves (1-2, 15-12).
There were five Shark hitters on Tuesday night that picked had a multi-hit game as Cody Dolan and Andrew Amaro each had three hits apiece. DJ Thomas was the winning pitcher for the Sharks as he tossed six innings of baseball as he gave up one run on four hits and struck out five to pick up his first win of the year.
Dolan drove in the first run of the ball game for Wilmington in the bottom of the first inning and Alex Freedman then scored on a wild pitch to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead after one. Florence was able to get a run back in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Stephan Wallace to make it 2-1 Sharks.
The Sharks had a big bottom half of the third inning as they picked up four runs on three hits as the inning was highlighted on a two RBI double into right field off the bat of Zach Stephens that gave the Sharks a 5-1 lead. Zach MacAneney scored in the bottom half of the fourth on a throwing error to extend the lead to 6-1.
Stephens did it again with his bat in the bottom of the fifth inning as he hit a two run home run over the left center field fence his fourth of the year and it gave the Sharks a 8-1 lead. Dylan Bosheers put the game away for good in the bottom of the seventh inning as he hit a two run home run over the left center field fence, his first of the year and put the Sharks in front 10-1 after seven.
The Redwolves were able to get a run back in the top of the ninth inning to cut the score to 10-2 and that made it final.
Zach Stephens went 2-4 with a double and home run followed with four RBIs for the Sharks. Joe Camp picked up two hits for the RedWolves. The Sharks will take on the Morehead City Marlins at home on Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
The Wilmington Sharks are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
