
Sharks Fall by 1 Again

For the second straight night, the Wilmington Sharks (23-16, 7-5) lost in a one run game as the Petersburg Generals (13-21, 5-4) held off the Sharks to win 6-5 on Sunday night,.
Petersburg would take the lead in the first inning with a three run rally, and the Generals would never trail in the game. The Sharks tied the game in the third with RBI singles from Mark Donadio (Fordham), Clark Scolameiro (South Carolina), and Nick Rotola (Oral Roberts), but gave up the lead again in the bottom of the inning.
Wilmington trailed 6-3 in the eighth inning, and were finally able to get back on the board. Alec Bohm (Wichita State) drove in two on a double, but a strikeout left him stranded on second. The Sharks went down in order in the ninth inning to end the game.
The win went to Kane Keith (2-2). He threw six innings, with eight hits, three runs, three walks and six strikeouts. Hank Nichols (1-3) took the loss, pitching four innings, allowing five runs, on nine hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Brady Womacks (4) got the save, with one scoreless inning and one strikeout.
The Sharks continue a two game road trip on Monday when they travel to Holly Springs.
