
Sharks Fall 7-3 at Wilson

In the first inning, the Sharks jumped all over Wilson (4-5) starter Chris Farrell. Noah Liles walked with one out and Paxton Wallace followed with a single in to right field. Then, Danny Wondrack absolutely crushed his third home run of the summer to put Wilmington (5-5) up 3-0.
From that point on though, it was all Tobs. In the third, Wilson center fielder Brenton Doyle hit a solo homer to left with two outs off Sharks starter Trent Alley (0-2).
In the fourth, Wilson added another run again with two outs against Alley. Dudley Taw singled to right to cut the Sharks lead to 1.
The Tobs offense entered the contest hit a Coastal Plain League worst batting average of 0.184.
Wilson though teed off in the fifth. Wilson used four doubles and a single to score four runs to take a 6-3 lead over Wilmington.
The Sharks had just two hits the rest of the way having guys reach in the seventh and ninth innings but left all three stranded.
Wilson added one more run in the seventh off Sharks reliever Logan Barker to cement a 7-3 victory.
Gary Watkins (1-0) earned the victory working three scoreless innings for the Tobs allowing just one hit and striking out one. Trent Alley lost for the second time this season on the road.
Ward Coleman was the only Shark with multiple hits on the night, hitting a double in his first at bat and single his second time up.
Next up, the Sharks are back home tomorrow to face the Fayetteville SwampDogs. First pitch is set for 7:05 from the Shark Tank and the Sharks Pregame Show begins at 6:50.
