
Sharks Come up Short in a Pitchers Duel on Tuesday

Morehead City, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (4-5, 18-18) came up just short in a pitchers duels on Tuesday night as they lost to the Morehead City Marlins (7-3, 19-19) on the road 1-0.
There was one run and a combined nine hits between both teams as the pitching staff's did a great job on the hill. Calvin Rayburn was the starter for the Marlins as he tossed seven shutout innings only giving up three hits and struck out three as he picked up the no decision. Beau Dees went five innings of shutout baseball for the Sharks as he gave up three hits and struck out three and finished with a no decision.
The Morehead City Marlins picked up five hits on the night as Zach Arnold led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a double. Cole Billingsley came into to pinch hit and laid down a sac bunt to move Arnold up to third. Nick Altobella came into the game and his first pitch was thrown to the backstop and Arnold came into to score and give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the ninth inning, Cody Dolan picked up a leadoff single and now has a seven game hitting streak for the Sharks. Mike Dunster came into pinch hit as he tried to lay down a sac bunt and popped out to the pitcher Billingsley who then doubled off Dolan at first. Billingsley got the last out and picked up his first save of the year.
The Wilmington Sharks will take on the Wilson Tobs on the road on Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
