Sharks Come up Just Short on Saturday Night

Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilson Tobs (14-10) came from behind on Saturday night to beat the Wilmington Sharks (13-13) by a score of 5-3.

The Wilmington Sharks were in full control of the ball game through eight innings against the Wilson Tobs as starter Tyler Bolton for the Wilmington Sharks though eight innings of scoreless baseball as he gave up four hits and struck out seven.

The Sharks broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning when Andrew Amaro drove a ball down the third base line to score Dylan Bosheers and John Fidanza to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead.

The Wilson Tobs came alive in the top of the ninth inning as they loaded up the bases with one out as Nick Green was in for the save for the Wilmington Sharks. Brennen James then came in for the Sharks to close out the game and walked Ridge Gonsoulian with the bases loaded which brought in a run to cut the Sharks lead to 3-1. The next hitter for the Tobs Sean Godfrey hit a grand slam over the left field fence to give the Tobs a 5-3 lead.

The Sharks were able to get a couple of base runners in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Jon Fitzsimmons was able to close out the ballgame and pick up the win for the Tobs.

Dylan Bosheers went 3-4 with an RBI and Leighton Daniels went 2-3 for the Sharks. Sean Godfrey went 1-3 in the game with a grand slam for the Tobs.

The Sharks go on the road on Sunday night as they take on the Forest City Owls with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.
