Camden Riversharks News Release
Butch Hobson got his 1500th managerial win Thursday with a 5-2 Lancaster Barnstormers victory over the Camden Riversharks at Campbell's Field.
John Halama (3-1) went the distance, throwing the first complete game of the 2012 Atlantic season. He stymied the Riversharks (8-12) hitters, scattering eight hits and allowing just two runs, neither of which were earned.
The Barnstormers (12-8) kept two of the leagues three best hitters, Jesus Merchan and Fehlandt Lentini, out of the lineup. But Lancaster was able to do enough at the plate.
The Stormers got the scoring started in the second off Camden starter Mike McGuire. Brad Boyer notched a run scoring triple to put the Barnstormers in front 1-0. He was driven in next at bat by Jaime Pedroza. McGuire went six innings, allowing four earned on nine hits.
After falling behind 4-0, the Riversharks finally got to Halama in the fifth. Paddy Matera continued his excellent hitting versus the Barnstormers, going four-for four on the day. He scored in the inning along with Steve Doetsch, thanks to three errors in the frame by Lancaster.
With the loss, the Sharks drop the rubber match of the three-game set. They now trail the Barnstormers 3-4 in the season series. Camden has now lost four of the last five games to complete their first homestand of the season.
The Riversharks go on the road for a 3 game set against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Friday before returning home Tuesday to take on the Somerset Patriots. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM, for ticket information visit Riversharks.com or call 1-866-SHARKS-9, or you can visit the TD Bank Convenience window.ÃÂ
