CAMDEN, New Jersey - The Skeeters opened up the road trip and three-game set with a loss in game one, 4-2, to the Riversharks at Campbell's field Friday night.

The Skeeters struck first in the top of the second inning off Riversharks starter Mike McGuire (7-9) when Aaron Bates hit his third home run of the season. On a 2-2 count, the first baseman powered a line-drive shot over the right-field wall to give the Skeeters a 1-0 lead.

Two innings later in the top of the fourth, Sugar Land doubled its lead with their second solo home run of the game from Dionys Cesar. His first homer in a Skeeters uniform pushed the lead to 2-0.

Michael Nix started the ballgame with five scoreless innings before Camden scored in the bottom of the sixth. Steve Doetsch reached on a leadoff single and was moved to second on an error from Nix on a Reid Gorecki grounder back to the mound. Chris Walker used a sac-bunt to put both runners in scoring position before Danny Santiesteban grounded out to second bringing in the first run, 2-1. One batter later, Pedro Feliz hit a RBI single into right to knot up the score 2-2.

Jeff Farnsworth (1-4) replaced Nix in the bottom of the sixth to record the final out, but when he returned in the seventh, the Riversharks took the lead. Lloyd Turner and Doetsch used back-to-back singles to reach before Chris Walker was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs. Roberto Giron entered the game to record the final out, but Santiesteban smacked a two RBI single into center to give the home team a 4-2 lead.

McGuire finished with seven innings under his belt giving up just four hits and two runs while striking out five before Spencer Steedley worked a scoreless eighth and Leo Rosales picked up his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.
