
Sharks Announce New Voice for 2013 Season

The Wilmington Sharks announced the today the addition of Garrett Knock as the Media Relations Intern and Broadcaster.ÃâÃÂ
Knock responsibilities will be highlighted by updating the website, press releases, social media and play-by-play for each home game during the summer. In addition, Knock will also travel with the team to away games tweeting game updates for the fans unable to catch the game. ÃâÃÂ
"I am extremely excited to be working for the Sharks organization this summer," said Knock. "I have heard great things about the organization and the team and can't wait to get started."
Knock is currently attending Western Illinois University where he is working on his Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting, with a minor in Journalism. At WIU, Knock has broadcasted men's and women's soccer, women's basketball and softball. Prior to Western Illinois, he attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he spent two years broadcasting men's and women's basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
"Garrett is the quality of broadcaster and person we strive for every year," said Sharks general manager Pat Hutchins. "I feel confident he will bring the listening experience our fans are looking for during the summer. His ability and positive attitude will be an integral piece of us taking the Sharks' to the next level.
The Atkins, Iowa native enjoys being active and spending time with family and friends when he is not broadcasting. He played soccer, baseball, football, and ran cross-country in high school, and also has had experience working in radio for three years.
The Wilmington Sharks are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 17th season in the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 55 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
