Jackson Generals News Release

Jackson, Tenn. - The Seattle Mariners announced that utility player Zach Shank has been transferred to the Jackson Generals from the Short-Season Everett AquaSox on Monday in advance of the team's series opener against the Tennessee Smokies. Shank's addition marks his first stint in Jackson and the Double-A level. In a corresponding move, infielder Patrick Brady was placed on the seven-day disabled list.

Jackson's roster now stands at 25 active players with seven on the disabled list

Shank, 24, split the past season with the Advanced-A High Desert Mavericks and the Class-A Clinton LumberKings. He opened 2014 with Clinton, hitting .302 with a personal-best six home runs before he was promoted to High Desert last July. Shank finished his first full professional season with a total of 10 home runs and appeared in 124 games while appearing at nearly every defensive position.

The Lititz, Pa. native was acquired by the Seattle Mariners as a 23rd-round pick in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Shank, a First Team All-MAAC selection for the Marist Red Foxes as a senior, opened his professional career with the Advanced-Rookie Level Pulaski Mariners in 2013 and earned a late-season call-up to Clinton. He has played every position except for catcher since joining the Mariners system, primarily playing third base last summer for the Mavericks and second base for Clinton and Pulaski.

Shank will wear number 21 for the Generals. An updated roster is attached.

Jackson will begin a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokies on Monday evening 7:05 p.m. in The Ballpark at Jackson. You can purchase tickets by calling the team at (731) 988.5299, stopping by the park or going online to jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
