
Seven Current Bulls' Players Headed to Top Prospects

AMARILLO, TX - Seven current and six former former members of the Amarillo Bulls are sprinkled over four of the rosters that were announced today (Tuesday) for the upcoming 2013 North American Hockey League Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Michigan next month.
Forwards Mike Davis, Omar Mullan, Gage Christianson, defenseman Geoff Fortman and goaltender Paul Berrafato will suit up for Team Texas that will be coached by Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams.
Davis is second on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points, and is plus 36 this season. The Delaware native has three power play goals and another three game winners. Omar Mullan has 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points in 38 games. The Dearborn, Michigan native is plus 26 and has five power play assists. Gage Christianson has played in 29 games for the Bulls where he has notched 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points. He is plus 26 and has two game winning markers.
Defenseman Geoff Fortman, who is one of six Bulls' players who has appeared in all 38 games, has picked up six goals, 13 assists for 19 points and is plus 22.
Goaltender Paul Berrafato is among the league leaders in several categories. The Buffalo, NY native is second in goals against at 1.91, and third in wins at 19.
Three other former Bulls are also on the Team Texas Roster and they include defenseman Zane Popilock and forward Matt Volonnino of the Odessa Jackalopes and Conor O'Neil of the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
Forward Brady Ferguson will play for the 18 Under Prospects in the event. Ferguson, a native of Dallas, TX, has five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 32 games. He has two shorthanded assists. The 18 Under team consists of some of the top young players in the NAHL.
One of the newest faces in the Bulls' line-up Blake Roubos who was acquired from the Wenatchee Wild recently will play for Team Frontier that includes all of the West teams. Roubos, who hails from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, had 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points while in the West Division. Since his arrival in Amarillo, Roubos has a goal and two assists for three points.
Three former Bulls' players will also play for Team Frontier. Forward Dan Sherer, defenseman Kyle Sucher and goaltender Macauley Haight of the Fresno Monsters were named to the squad.
At the event, six teams - Dakota, Frontier, Great Lakes, Midwest, Texas and the NAHL 18U Selects - will each play three games. Each team consists of a 20-man roster as nominated by the league's 24 head coaches and then chosen by the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament head coaches and selection committee. Each of the teams will consist of 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders. The number of players represented by each NAHL team was based on each team's winning percentage within their division as of January 14th. In addition, there were three wild card players selected to play on the Frontier team.
In a very short period of time, the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament has become one of the most highly-scouted events of its kind. Last season, over 160 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school. Over a third of the players that competed in last year's event ended up with an NCAA Division I opportunity.
The North American Hockey League Top Prospects event takes place February 18-20 and will be broadcasted live on Pay Per View courtesy of Fast Hockey (www.fasthockey.com) and a high speed internet connection will be required in order to watch the games.
