Missouri Mavericks vs. the Allen Americans

Independence, Missouri - The Allen Americans earned a split on the road despite a 5-2 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday night in Missouri. Allen is heading back home for the next three games at Allen Event Center.
C.J. Ludwig found the back of the net just 1:28 into the opening period for his first of the playoffs to give Missouri a 1-0 lead. Tyler Barnes and Darren Nowick added power play goals in the first to extend the Mavs lead to 3-0. The Americans were never able to recover, held to a playoff low of just three shots on goal in the opening frame.
Rocco Carzo extended the Mavericks lead to 4-0 in the second, with his second goal of the playoffs at the 7:06 mark of the period. Carzo fired a shot from the left face-off circle that hit off the glove of Riley Gill and into the Allen net. Gill would be replaced by Joel Rumpel shortly after and the Mavericks took a 4-0 lead to the locker room, while outshooting Allen 18 to 9 for the game.
Tyler Barnes scored his second power play goal of the game, 4:40 into the third to give Missouri a 5-0 cushion. The score would remain that way until the 15:04 mark of the third, when Vincent Arseneau found Casey Pierro-Zabotel on a back door pass in front of the net for his 4th of the playoffs to cut the lead to 5-1. Chad Costello made it a three-goal game with his second of the playoffs, one minute and thirty-three seconds later, however the damage had already been done and the Mavericks would even the series with a 5-2 victory on their home-ice.
