Harrisburg Senators News Release
On a cool Monday night in New Britain, the Rock Cats scored five two-out runs and snapped the Senators three-game winning streak with a 6-3 win. The Senators fall to 3-2 with the loss while the Rock Cats improve to 4-1 on the season.
Josh Johnson homered to put the Sens on top in the third inning 1-0. But New Britain came right back and scored four in the bottom of the third off Sens starter Mike Ballard. Aaron Hicks capped the inning with a two-out three-run home run.
Harrisburg trimmed the lead to 4-2 in the fifth on an rbi single off the bat of Tim Pahuta, but the Rock Cats bounced right back with two of their own to make the score 6-2.
The Senators scored a run in the ninth on an rbi fielder's choice off the bat of Eury Perez, but couldn't get any closer.
Perez had a hit and Jeff Kobernus two as they both extended their season opening hit streaks to five games each. Josh Johnson had three hits in the loss.
Kevin Pucetas and Hector Nelo combined to finish the game and keep New Britain at bay.
Game two of the three game series is Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. with RH Rob Gilliam on the hill for the Senators against LH Luke French for New Britain. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, on iPods or iPads, or through iHeart radio beginning at 6:15 p.m.
